Thursday, July 13th, 1989: Detroit is abuzz in the wake of a masterful no-hitter by Mark Lemongello against the Cleveland Indians. In a dominating 4-0 performance at Tiger Stadium, the 33-year-old hurler had 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. Not one batter managed a hit.

The Cleveland manager said after the game, "You could tell early on it was going to be a long day for us. He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."

"Yeah, this was a special day for me," said Lemongello. "I had my good stuff and good movement... good location, too. Even when I was off and made a mistake, I got away with it today."

This year Lemongello has worked 124 innings with 69 strikeouts en route to a 7-6 record and 3.92 ERA.
